STIPDA Grant

STIPDA is pleased to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) for EMS/Injury Prevention Mini-Grants

As a follow-up to a successful EMS-Injury Prevention Roundtable led by STIPDA, the National Association of State Emergency Medical Services Directors (NASEMSD) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration earlier this year, STIPDA has received NHTSA funding to administer a mini-grant program to implement draft roundtable recommendations and increase collaboration between EMS and Injury Prevention programs at state and local levels.

The draft roundtable recommendations focused on six key areas: occupational safety, data, training and education, incentives, linkages, and leadership. Accordingly, mini-grant project activities should focus on at least one of these areas.

Eligible applicants include state or local EMS agencies (public or private), state or local health department injury prevention programs, and other public or private injury prevention programs such as SAFE KIDS or hospital-based programs.

The RFP, Letter of Intent and mini-grant application are available for download on the STIPDA website at http://www.stipda.org/minigrant.htm .  The Letter of Intent is due to the STIPDA office by 4 pm EST on Friday, December 12, 2003 and the full application is due Friday, January 9, 2004 .  The RFP contains a timeline table with all application and project deadlines and acceptable methods for submitting the Letter of Intent and application.

STIPDA and NHTSA will provide a technical assistance call on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at 2 pm EST to answer questions from potential mini-grant applicants.  The bridge line number for the call will be provided next week.  The call is limited to 30 lines, so it would be helpful to know if you intend to participate in the call.  Please email Amy Woodward at STIPDA at a.woodward@stipda.cbeyond.com  if you intend to participate.  If you have specific questions that you would like answered on the call, please email them to Amy Woodward by COB Monday, December 8, 2003 .  STIPDA will compile all questions posed before and during the technical assistance call and post on our website a document summarizing the questions and answers for use by all interested mini-grant applicants.

The above information and attached document also were disseminated through NASEMSD, NHTSA Regional Coordinators, the Association for State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), and the National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO).

If you have any questions about the mini-grant, please call the STIPDA National Office at 770-690-9000.
