Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety Bidder's Conference--Thursday, June 3, 2004 On June 3rd, 2004, the Governor's Office of Highway Safety held a bidder's conference for all safety groups interested in receiving federal grant money from GOHS for the upcoming year. The conference, which took place at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, was an important meeting for all potential grantees. For new groups interested in funding, the conference demystified the bidding process. By walking the audience through the necessary steps to fill out required paperwork, declaring goals, setting expectation levels, and other grant tasks, new bidders were able to internalize the process as one that involves many reasonable stages as opposed to being something overwhelming. For previously established and funded organizations, the conference reaffirmed government expectations and acquainted them with some of the new tweaks to the system which inevitably occur from year to year. The conference also proved to be an idea and networking labratory, providing new directions for groups to go and new people with which to partner and strengthen previous goals.
